Sarah + Greg

This wedding was like a fairy tale. Stunning historic venue in leafy Cheshire, gardens in full bloom, festoon lights, fire pits and wonderfully coordinated colour scheme of muted pink and gold rose formed a magical backdrop for Sarah and Greg’s big day. We could not be more happier they picked us as their Dorfold wedding photographers!

Here is what Sarah said about choosing Dorfold for their wedding: ”We visited a few wedding venues near where we live in Surrey however I soon realised that having the
wedding near where I grew up was important. We viewed a few Cheshire wedding venues but both fell in
love with history of Dorfold Hall when we saw it, as it reminded Greg of Army life, and Sarah of
Cambridge colleges. We loved the fact that we could do everything on site, but have different
elements in different locations – eg the 200 year old coach house for the ceremony, and could
customise it all however we liked.”

The owners of Dorfold, Candice and Charles with their twin cute boys, were so welcoming and helpful on the day too. We had such a pleasure working as Dorfold Wedding Photographers and I am chuffed to share a large selection of previews from this magical day. Read more about Sarah and Greg’s love story, wedding inspo and their wedding day below.

Our love story

”Greg and I first met in May 2011 at a wedding in Greece. Greg was one of the Groom’s friends and I
was a bridesmaid. He decided he quite fancied a date with me, and pursued me for some months
trying to meet up. This wasn’t easy as he lived in Germany. After a few fun dates Greg was sent away
with the Army for 6 months and we didn’t last the course. We remained friends and met up when
Greg came to London – and I also visited him in Germany. We got together properly in March 2014
and Greg moved into my flat in June – then he never left! We bought a house together in 2015, and
then he proposed on 17 th Feb 2017 at the top of Pitch Hill in Surrey. The time between then and May
2018 has a been a whirlwind of work, romance and wedding planning!”

My custom made wedding dress was created in less than 3 months to my wedding!

”My first dress didn’t work out – so with less than 3 months to go I was in a real quandary! However I
came across Kate from Mairee in Nantwich who in fairy godmother style said she could bespoke
make me one in time! So we set upon designing it ourselves, and I LOVED it! The dress was covered
in tiny lace motifs which we chose the placement of, and I loved the trumpet shape which was held
by a big net skirt. The lace veil was my favourite accessory – the lace matched the dress, and then for
the evening we created a Coco Chanel style cape to add a bit of structure. I loved the whole thing,
and had so much fun wearing it! Thank you Kate! Oh and I decided some silver Manolos were a must!
The bridesmaids wore blush pink from Phase Eight – I saw these straight after we got engaged and knew they were a must!”

Bespoke made suit and army cuff links for Greg

”The obvious choice for Greg was a traditional morning suit which he had bespoke made at Cad
and the Dandy Tailors on Saville Row, London. He loved the perfect fit and felt super smart,
particularly as it was accompanied by Army cufflinks! Greg did a quick tie swap before dinner, taking
off a ivory tie and switching it up for an army one!

Elegant style, muted pinks, fresh flowers and rose gold inspiration board

”The whole style was designed to be elegant and beautiful. I wanted to design as much if it as
possible so the invites, table placings and orders of service all used my script and drawings. Cara at
the Little Paper Shop designed some loose leaf florals for me in a muted pink (to match the
bridesmaids dresses that I had already bought!), which we put with rose gold and the theme grew
from there. The styling of the day was all muted pinks, ivories, and delicate flowers with beautiful
scents – such as roses and peonies – and with lots of texture and sage green. I loved the flowers –
and in particular my bouquet – which blew me away! It was such a beautiful shape, with lots of
texture, and smelt divine!”

Our ceremony and choice of readings

”We didn’t want a religious ceremony so followed the format of a civil ceremony. Cheshire East were
really helpful and did a run through with us beforehand. We chose one traditional and one more
contemporary reading. My 90 year old Grandad recited Sonnet 116 by Shakespeare from memory –
hardly a dry eye in the house and he got a round of applause! Greg’s sister Tania read I Will be Here
by Stephen Curtis Chapman – of which we loved the sentiment. We had a string quartet for the music
who did an incredible job with Pachelbal Canon in D for the bridal entrance.”

Music all day

”First dance was Can’t Take My Eye’s Off You by Franki Valli. We liked the song for the lyrics, the mix
of tempos, and the fact that I love the Jersey Boys! It was such fun to do!
We had a music fest of a day – all three were great! We had a string quartet for the traditional
ceremony, some background singing for dinner which was beautiful, and then a huge dance party to
Undercover in the evening. They were so good I danced for four hours solid”

Our favourite part of the day was the Ceremony.

”The venue and setup was so beautiful and intimate
and we loved doing our vows, then walking out together as husband and wife. It all felt so very
personal.
We absolutely loved our day. It is crazy how after a year or so of planning the whole day goes so fast
– so make sure you make time for yourself and invest in a photographer you trust to both take great
pictures and who you would want to hang out with for 12 hours! Make whatever decisions feel right
to the two of you. Changing my dress with 3 months to go felt like a crazy thing to embark on but
was the best decision I made… I felt a million dollars!”

Why we chose Joasis Photo as our Dorfold wedding photographers

”We booked Jo after seeing the incredible work she did on Neal and Leanne’s wedding! Greg was an usher and found her very easy to work with. I loved the non posed artistic style of her work. We booked a second shooter as we wanted to get candid shots throughout the day. Jo and Raf were a pleasure to have there – super discrete, very friendly, helpful with bridal needs! We had three couple shoots in effect – as we did a daytime one, one before the first dance and an evening shoot. And having seen the early results we are so impressed and love the contrast of styles and the different times of day. Thank you!”

You are welcome! We had so much fun that day! Thank you! More photos to come soon!
