Bahá’í wedding in London – Andaz Wedding Photographer

Donna & Safa’s Andaz Hotel Wedding

Donna and Safa’s wedding at the Andaz Hotel in London was one of those days that sticks with you – the kind that feels timeless yet totally personal. As an Andaz wedding photographer, I absolutely adore how the hotel balances old-world elegance (looking at you, Edwardian ballroom) with that fresh, modern energy.

A First Look in Bishopsgate Room

The day began quietly, with a first look in the light-filled Bishopsgate Room. These moments are some of my favourites – just the two of them, taking a breath before the whirlwind of the day.

Portraits in the Temple and the City of London streets

After the legal ceremony with their closest family, we went downstairs to a hidden gem of the Temple for more editorial and posed formal and couple photos. We then wandered through the City of London for natural light portraits. The mix of dramatic architecture and little side streets was an ideal canvas for film wedding photography- autumn light bouncing off the stone buildings, Donna’s dress catching every flicker of movement. They had planned it so all portraits and family photos were wrapped before the big celebration, which meant more time later to laugh, dance, and soak it all in. Honestly, it’s always a treat when couples give themselves that breathing room.

The Bahá’í Wedding Ceremony

The heart of the day was their Bahá’í ceremony. If you’ve never witnessed one, it’s incredibly moving – no officiant, no fuss. Just the couple reciting vows in front of witnesses, surrounded by blessings from family and friends. It’s simple, sacred, and incredibly powerful. When Donna and Safa walked out into a shower of bubbles, the joy was contagious.

Cocktails & Reception at Andaz Gallery and 1901 Ballroom

Guests moved to the Gallery for custom mocktails and canapés before heading into the 1901 Ballroom for the evening reception. I can’t overstate how beautiful this space is – high ceilings, Edwardian detailing, and a sense of grandeur that makes every photo feel cinematic. Donna and Safa made a joyful entrance with a welcome dance that kicked off the evening in style. From heartfelt speeches to elegant tablescapes, it was a celebration full of laughter, music, and energy. Enjoy this Andaz Hotel wedding story:

Andaz Wedding Couple’s Experience of Working with Me:

I always believe that having a great connection with your wedding photographer is quite the key to receiving the best experience and wedding photos you dream of. When I met with Safa and Donna to chat about their plans – I knew we’d get along well. I loved that they prioritized photography and planned their day to maximize both the venue locations, and the light given the late October date. At the same time, they wanted to have fun and simply put the trust into someone and enjoy their day.

I am so delighted to get this glowing testimonial:

”We really cannot stress enough how happy we were to have Jo with us on our big day. She is the PERFECT balance of the most professional but also most personable and comfortable person to have with us. We felt like we already knew each other. You can tell she is extremely organized and has a wealth of knowledge on not just photography, but also wedding logistics and timekeeping. She kept in touch leading up to our wedding and sent questionnaires and really got to know us and our wishes deeply, far beyond just photography style. She helped us think of content to capture that we would’ve forgotten on our own, and made sure to ask about key guests and proper titles we wish to be referred to as.

On the day she kept us very relaxed and gave just enough direction to ensure we’d be happy with the results, and was AMAZING at keeping time and keeping us to our schedule without us feeling rushed. She was always in the right place at the right time to capture key moments of our night and followed our schedule so closely. Even before seeing all the photos we knew we picked the right person, it was honestly such a joy, some of our favourite moments from the wedding were taking couples photos together.

And then the photos. We really couldn’t have asked for anything better, every single photo of the 900+ are *perfect.* We got a mix of film photos as well, which we love the feel of and add a nice element to the collection.”

Why I Love Wedding Photography at Andaz Hotel

Every time I return to the Andaz, I find new little corners and backdrops that make the photos feel fresh. For me, being an Andaz wedding photographer isn’t just about documenting the big moments – it’s about catching the in-betweens: a glance, a laugh, the way the light falls on a quiet corner. This mix of timeless luxury and modern city vibe makes it one of my favourite venues in London.
