Cinematic wedding photography

This is a special wedding story set against beautiful backdrops of London wedding venues – the Old Marylebone Town Hall and Balfour at St Barts in the City. There are plenty of gorgeous details, fashion inspiration (that Alexander McQueen white suit is my new favourite wedding dress alternative!), and candid photography telling the story of the day. However, you will notice that we have many more of portraits than on a regular wedding day and photos that may remind you of some scenes from fabulous TV shows and cult films!

Cinema, film noir, Hollywood glam inspiration

Erin and Harry work in creative industries and are avid fans of cinematography. When I received the moodboard, I was so excited to see stills from films that are known for incredible photography: from Mad Men to Better Call Saul, Reservoir Dogs to Some Like It Hot. I enjoyed seeing black and white photography from the old Hollywood parties there, too.

“Where do we even start! These are INCREDIBLE. You’ve absolutely smashed it!

Thank you so much for all of your hard work making our vision come to life.  I think I actually gasped when I saw some of the film reference images – they are spot on!  I know our brief was quite the task, but we are so, so happy with the results – exactly what we were hoping for, and why we chose you in the first place!

We’ve also had such lovely feedback from our family and friends – both on the pictures but also on you! They loved your energy on the day! Thank you so much again! We’re so thrilled.”

CINEMATIC WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – MY TAKE

St. Balfour’s wedding was a uniquely meaningful day shaped by Erin and Harry’s clear vision and deep connection. Their trust allowed me to create cinematic imagery that felt personal and intentional, blending documentary and styled elements. I approached each moment with purpose, ensuring every shot reflected who they are – not just what happened.

Inspired by architecture, fashion, and film, I welcomed the challenge of crafting something distinctive. Erin and Harry came prepared and carved out multiple windows in the schedule for creativity. Their collaboration made it possible to adapt quickly, find compelling backdrops, and use the strong sunlight to capture striking, high-contrast film noir-inspired shots.

At the Old Marylebone Town Hall, where time for couple photography is often limited, I drew on my experience to produce a diverse set of meaningful images. I always take time to understand each couple’s priorities – be it candid moments, editorial shots, or intricate details – and guide them if initial ideas don’t align with their true vision.
