Sardinia destination wedding photography
Izabela + Stefano
I have to admit that being Sardinia wedding photographer was definitely a highlight of my wedding season. When Izabela and Stefano contacted me about their destination wedding in Cagliari I was immediately super excited about the prospect of shooting in such a beautiful city. It did however exceeded my expectations! The city is magnificent! We stayed in the old town – The Castello neighbourhood, a few minutes walk from 16th century Cathedral. That is where we had the couple session with Izabela and Stefano after their wedding ceremony in stunning historical Palazzo Civico Ottone Baccaredda. For the reception and evening food the party moved to Villa San Lorenzo. The wedding dinner was held outside and Iza and Stefano created this amazing styling: bare wooden tables, rattan plates, cute white wooden pegs with hand written names that served as place cards and fresh flowers in jars. Lush gardens of Villa San Lorenzo were an amazing backdrop for this intimate Italian wedding. And do not get me started on Italian food! Stefano made sure the best Sardinian and Italian food was served and we literally could not get over local specialities like pecorinio cheese. Usually, Italian weddings start late and run until late – we put our cameras down at some point and enjoyed the outdoor party accompanied by a live band until late!
Have a look at a selection of photos from this day. Thanks Iza and Stefano for trusting us to be your Sardinia wedding photographers. Scroll down to read more about their love story.
Our love story:
We met while holidaying in Egypt 9 years ago. For two years we did not have any contact with each other – I lived in Poland and Stefano was in France. However, the destiny, called Facebook, helped us a little bit there and we found each other. We spent hours conversing on Skype and messenger, but we really wanted to meet in person. Finally, at the beginning of 2011 I went to visit Stefano in France, then he came to see me in Poland. And so we continued a long distance relationship for another year. After I lost my job in Poland I jumped on the plane and this time I landed in Bremen where Stefano had moved for his job … and that’s how it has stayed until today.
In 2015, we bought partner bands, but without setting a wedding date. All in all, everything was spontaneous with no big plans and dates. At the end of last year we were in Sardinia to visit Stefano’s family. Since I remember I had dreamt of a wedding in Italy, but I had never expected to meet an Italian and get married in Sardinia! I have fallen in love with this island, that’s why I wanted so much to say “yes” there. The ceremony took place in the registry office of Palazzo Civico because we had no plans for the church wedding. Villa San Lorenzo was an accidental choice, but how perfect for our intimate wedding with family and close friends.
Our wedding outfits:
And here again the word “spontaneous” appears, but not accidental – we both like vintage, simplicity and convenience. My dress is a project by Juda & Pietkiewicz, Warsaw designers. The most important thing for me was that the dress was short and modest. I only had one fitting so I had to trust the designer that they can make it perfect without my presence. It was perfect!
Stefano also had a suit tailored at a distance, we ordered it in Cagliari in one of the old tailor’s workshops Sartoria Olimpic. The initial idea was for a linen suit, but ultimately he chose a beautiful thin wool … the only fitting happened a week before the wedding!
The decor and styling of Italian Villa:
From the beginning of the wedding planning, we had a vision how we wanted everything to look, what decorations we wanted and what flowers picked. We did not know how to put it all together, but we had consultations with Jo at Joasis Photography and with a help of pinterest put it all together. As we live in Germany, coordination and collection of relevant items was challenging at times we managed to get everything and I then decorated the venue the day before the wedding. I picked my flowers 3 days before the wedding too.
Why did you choose us at Joasis Photography for your Italian wedding?
We could choose anyone else, it had to be YOU … we love your style, it’s the beauty and the moments you get. Professionals with whom it was nice to work! After receiving the pictures and watching the slideshow multiple times they took our breath away… all memories came back, as if it was yesterday … you were the best choice!
