Can we just talk about how magical weddings can be? As a London wedding photographer, I’m lucky to work at so many beautiful venues across the city and beyond. This year, I’ve found myself photographing more weddings in Richmond than ever before, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this beautiful Scott’s Richmond wedding photography story with you.

From a relaxed ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall, through fun shenanigans on a Red Routemaster, to a riverside celebration filled with cocktails on the terrace of Scott’s, live music and party, this was a day full of everything I love about modern weddings. A London Wedding was an easy choice for the Londoners

The couple always knew they wanted a London wedding.

As they shared:

“Having both grown up in South West London, we knew we wanted a London based wedding. We wanted at least 100 guests, so the Westminster Room at Marylebone Town Hall was the best option for us. Emma grew up close to Richmond riverside, so a party at Scott’s Richmond overlooking the river felt like the perfect place to have a big party after the ceremony.”

Getting Ready at Royal Lancaster Hotel

Emma got ready with her closest friends at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in a room overlooking London. The atmosphere felt calm but full of excitement.

There was a quiet first look with her parents. A few hugs and teary eyes. Then a glass of champagne before heading out.

Emma’s outfit was so elegant, modern, and elevated!

“I wore a corset and skirt by Divine Atelier at Miss Bush Bridal. I felt like it fit the setting of Scott’s and felt quite glamorous for the party. We had the lace top handmade to order. I loved having it for the ceremony and taking it off for the evening.”

Joe’s look was a modern take on a wedding suit:

“Joe had his three-piece (navy) suit custom made at a local atelier in London with a Suit Supply (blush pink) tie.”

The largest space- the Westminster Room is such a beautiful space. Elegant and traditional interiors with a touch of natural light flooding the couple.

Joe’s favourite part of the day was the moment Emma walked down the aisle: ”Tt was an amazing moment and a bit of a blur!”

The ceremony itself felt warm with both mothers reading beautiful texts, emotional hugs and a few fun moments trying to slide the rings on slightly sticky fingers (it was a very hot day!).

The couple emphasized their priority was to spend a maximum time with their guests, so they opted for only a small handful of family photos and a few quick shots on the steps before joining their guests on the vintage red Routemaster buses.

Knowing the venue very well, I captured a few natural portraits on our way out of the town hall too.

After the ceremony, everyone piled onto vintage red buses.

Music on. Windows open. Laughter everywhere. It felt like part of the celebration.

As a London wedding photographer, I often partake in Routemaster journeys, but not all share the same high energy – this wedding party really shared the excitement!

Scott’s Richmond Wedding Photography | A Relaxed Dinner Party by the River

When we arrived at Scott’s Richmond, guests spilled out onto a floral terrace overlooking the Thames.

The couple’s vision was clear from the start. They wanted a relaxed, dinner party feel.

There was no formal sit-down meal. Instead, bowl food was shared throughout the evening. Plates passed between guests. Conversations flowing easily.

Cocktails were in abundance. A live duo played softly in the background.

It created such a warm and intimate atmosphere. People mingled freely. Nothing felt staged or structured.

This is what makes Scott’s Richmond wedding photography so special. The setting, the light, and the energy all come together naturally.

Sunset Photos on Film

Just before the speeches and the party began, we slipped away for a few minutes to the riverside.

The couple wanted a documentary approach, so we kept portraits short and relaxed.

But this moment was so worth it.

The sunset painted the sky in soft gold tones. The light was unreal.

As a film wedding photographer, this is where analogue photography really shines. It captures light in a soft, timeless way that digital can’t quite replicate.

We kept things simple. A few minutes. No pressure.

And these became their favourite photos of the day.

Speeches, Live Music and Straight Into the Party

Back inside, the energy shifted again.

Speeches were standing. Heartfelt and hilarious. The perfect mix.

The relaxed format carried through everything. No formal sit-down. Just movement, conversation, and connection.

Then the party began almost instantly.

The live band started. The dance floor filled.

Why Documentary Wedding Photography Matters

The couple wanted to be present. To enjoy every part of the day without being pulled away for long for photos.

And they did exactly that.
